An Egyptian Sultan Maulana Mahmud got married to Nyi Mas Rarasantang (Hj. Syarifah Mudaim), a princess from Pajajaran [now located in West Java, Indonesia] in Tursina mosque in 1447.

As a result of their marriage, they had two children, Syarif Hidayatullah (born: 1448 AD) and Syarif Nurullah (born: 1450 AD). Both Egyptian-Pajajaran spouses made this following agreement: Their sons would convert all people in Java into Islam.

On the Islamic date 5, in the month of Jumadilawal, year 1466 AD, Syarif Hidayatullah made his way to learn Islam spiritually directly from Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He also met Prophet Solomon and Prophet Ilyas.

On the Islamic date, 28th Rajab, year 1466 AD, Syarif Hidayatullah ascended to the 6th heaven. He then again met Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). At this time, he received the title ‘Insankamil’ from the Prophet. After embracing the full knowledge taught by the Prophet, he descended to the 5th heaven, and eventually reached the 1st heaven. He then descended to to the Ajrak court by riding on white clouds.

He understood the languages used by jinn (English: genie), satans, angels, animals, and wind. He also instinctively knew the restorative power of plants and fruits. He was capable of bringing the dead efficacious plants to life, and had the ability to speak to the dead. He had the power to chill fire, and was able to stay dry in water. He managed to reach his  destination in no time, within the blink of eyes.

In Nispu Sya’ban year 1466 AD, Maulana Insankamil Syarif Hidayatullah came to see his mother in the Egyptian court. His journey from the beginning to the end resulted in satisfaction.

In 1468 AD, Syarif Hidayatullah (Maulana Insankamil) became an Egyptian sultan. In 1472, He was already in Cirebon [now located in West Java, Indonesia] and met the village chief, Abdullah Iman = Cakrabuana = Prabu Siliwangi Pajajaran = Prabu Anom = Sri Mangana, for his mission to introduce Islam. After moving to Cirebon, Sultan Syarif Nurullah acted as his replacement as an Egyptian sultan.

Syarif Hidayatullah took Ki Syekh Nur Jati as his guru (teacher) in Cirebon and Sunan Ampel in Ampeldenta. In 1479, he was installed as the Head of Cirebon State with the name ‘Yang Sinuhun Kanjeng Susuhunan Jati Purba Panetep Penata Agama Awliya Allah Kutubijaman Kholifatur Rasulullah Solallohu Alaihi Wassalam’. Until now, he is known as Sunan Gunung jati from Cirebon.
